My Every Version

Sometimes, I wish I could hold the hand of my younger self and whisper to her what I know now. Guide her down on what the right choices are, help her avoid missteps and silly mistakes. I think back to choices I made and don't even recognize versions of myself that look and sound the same. They were all so stubborn and tough acts that made me realize that they were all strong individuals with no hesitation and filled with resolve.

But then I shift from judgement to compassion.

She did her best with the knowledge she had at hand. She was still trying. She was still healing. She was still learning.

I've preached for years about kindness to each other. But we can't forget to be most kind to ourselves and those selves include every version you've ever been that has gotten you to where you are today.
