Heartbeats
How often can you hear your own heartbeat?
Lately I've been hearing it more often
Driving through the woods of uncertainty, all is silent
No cars, no houses, nor a single street light in sight
Overrun by the New Moon's light closing in
Listening to the pitter patter, envisioning the blood rush
Pulsating harshly against my ribcage
Forcing a lightness finer than a dandelion seedling
Slightly more ajar than the week before
Mighty persistent little thing
Amidst the indisposition
A steadfast rhythm plays
