A Painful Realization
It's the color of the sky as the rain threatens to spill
That clouds blanketing the earth
With sullen shadows and robbing it of colors
Desaturating everything with a dullness that reaches your soul
It's the mist that blankets the horizon at 4AM
As the wind litters your skin with morning dews
A humongous smoke embracing the forest
The fog that thieves your warmth and hurls chill to your bones
It's how you feel months after he turned back
Leaving you under the midsummer rain
And seizing the sun in his pockets
You rest your head against the bus window
And watch the sky's teardrops run down the sill
And you feel as if you miss him, but you don't.
It's the silence that fills the room
As she buries herself in a book and you stare at the TV
Wondering if there's more in this life
As you ghost around each other
After five years and you lost the love
Or love has lost you
It's in the smoke that comes out of his lungs
As he flicks a cigarette between his fingers
Wondering where you went
Wondering why you chose him
Wondering why he didn't choose you.
